Alexandra Maria Lara, a Romanian and German actor who is employed in TV and film is best known for films such as Rush and Downfall Youth Without Youth Control. Alexandra was the only child of Romanian actor Valentin Platareu. When she was sixteen, she had secured a number of TV roles for instance, the lead in the film Downfall Youth without Youth Control. Her critically acclaimed performance in the made-for-television film Der Tunnel paved way for many other noteworthy roles, including the role of Adolf Hitler's secretary Traudl Junge from the critically and commercially profitable Oscar nominated war-time drama film Downfall. Additional Oscar nominated films featuring the actress include The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex. Alexandra is known for her involvement in many notable projects, both in the United States as well as internationally. They include British biographical films like Control and The Dust of Time as in addition to the French history mini-series Napoleon. In addition, she is a jury member at two festivals: the Transylvania International Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival.
